YOUR HOSTS - Brendan and Fran

Brendan and Fran have been together since 2004. They first met in 1999 when Brendan was seeking some advice about a kitchen for the new home he was building which together they have turned into a beautiful bed and breakfast.

Brendan is a farmer - Merino sheep and cereal crops of wheat, barley oats, peas and lupins farming approx 3,200 hectares 80 kilometers north of Esperance. He is a fourth generation Australian and has been the custodian of the farm following on from his father, grandfather and great uncle. The farm was established in 1894 and he has spent 50 years of his life keeping his heritage alive and is passionately committed to producing the finest Merino Wool and best crops possible. His son now runs the farm which he handed over in 2007

He enjoys growing trees beautifying the gardens and surrounding areas of Tranquil Retreat so one day we will have a well established garden and parkland for our guests to enjoy.

Fran is also a 4th generation Australian and her grandfather was the first pioneer settler in the area where she grew up. She was raised on an extensive orchard which included the first walnut plantation in Western Australia.

Both my grandmother and mother grew acres of daffodils and many other cut flowers which she helped pick for market.

Fran spent approx 30 years in New South Wales firstly working in a medical background then building a very successful kitchen manufacturing and kitchen designing business winning many awards before moving back to Perth in 1994 where she continued in the kitchen industry until 2004.

Brendan and Fran are passionate about making Tranquil Retreat a most memorable and special experience for our guests who stay with us.
